Press Ganey Names Dr. Mary Jo Assi as Associate Chief Nursing Officer

Appointment Expands Clinical and Nursing Excellence Leadership, Focus  

Boston, Massachusetts, May 8, 2017Press Ganey today announced that Dr. Mary Jo Assi has joined its executive team as Associate Chief Nursing Officer. Assi will be responsible for leading strategies to strengthen caregiver resilience and engagement, reduce patient suffering and deliver compassionate and connected care across the continuum.  

“Mary Jo has dedicated her career to advancing the care experience for both caregivers and patients,” said Christy Dempsey, Chief Nursing Officer at Press Ganey. “Her extensive experience in developing and implementing programs that enable nurses to practice to the full extent of their education and deliver exceptional care in a safe environment will benefit our clients’ efforts to nurture and sustain a culture of nursing excellence and improve the overall safety, quality and experience of care.”

Assi joins Press Ganey from the American Nurses Association (ANA) where she was the Vice President of Nursing Practice and Innovation and led the association’s strategic initiative to develop a Center of Innovation to promote and support best practices to enhance the work environment of nurses, leading to exemplary patient outcomes. She also led the formation of ANA professional issues panels and related ANA position papers, which have been pivotal components of state and national policy advocacy. 

Assi earned her Doctor in Nursing Practice from George Washington University; is a former Magnet Coordinator among many of her nursing leadership roles; and is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
